If any of you want to go, call us. We ended up getting the family pass since it will pay for itself in two visits. Check it out at http://www.weinmanmuseum.org/

Tellus Museum, Cartersville
We still have 4 days to log this week so yesterday we went on a field trip with the family. We headed up to Cartersville to the newly renovated Weinman Rock and Mineral Museum which is now called the Tellus Science Museum. They did a great job rebuilding that place! The last time I was there was about 10 years ago with a bunch of 3rd graders. They had a bunch of the rocks from their geology display but they did some serious upgrades. It isn't quite Fernbank but it was definitely impressive. We loved the rock gallery, the fossil gallery, and the kid areas the most.
Theo and the megladon jaw. Yikes. Glad we don't have to worry about meeting up with that guy! Leah wouldn't even stand in front of it. She said it creeped her out.
The fossil dig and the panning for gem stones was very well done. They were allowed to keep one favorite fossil and as many gems as they could collect.

The kid area (My Big Backyard) was pretty neat too. They had fun playing with light, electronics, magnets and more. The only think I didn't like was the fact that Theo ran from activity to activity without slowing down long enough to really get anything out of it. I think next time we'll go with a clipboard. They hate that but it works.
