Yesterday, as a part of our geology study, we went to Dahlonega to tour a gold mine. Of course the favorite part of the trip was not when the tour guide turned off the lights at the bottom of the mine, nor was it the cute little bat hanging from the ceiling.
It wasn't the cool miner's hats
or the amazing rock formations.
Their favorite part of the trip was panning for gold
and gem stones!
They both came home with a bag full and they havehad lots of fun trading them and looking at them under the microscope.
